Sex Crimes Squad detectives charge school employee with alleged child and animal abuse offences

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a school employee with alleged child and animal abuse offences under Strike Force Trawler.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

In July 2026, strike force detectives received a report regarding the detection of child abuse material linked to an account holder in the state’s north west.

About 11am yesterday (Tuesday 21 July 2026) detectives executed a commonwealth person warrant at a school, and search warrant at a home in the Bourke Shire region, where devices allegedly containing child abuse and animal abuse material were seized.

A 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bourke Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of possess child abuse material, two counts of possess animal sexual abuse material and possess animal crush material.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 4 today (Wednesday 22 July 2026).
