Shady Driver Behaviour Outside Sunbury Supermarket

A 55-year-old woman has been caught allegedly five times over the limit in Sunbury yesterday afternoon.

Fawkner Highway Patrol initially observed a Renault hatchback in a supermarket car park on Gap Road about 4.40pm.

Officers spoke to the unlicensed driver, who accompanied police for an evidentiary breath test where she returned an alleged reading of 0.275, more than four times the legal limit.

The Mt Macedon woman had her car immediately impounded for 30 days at a cost of $969.80.

She is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.

This impound forms part of Operation Tribute. A statewide road policing operation targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, fatigue and seatbelt non-compliance in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, in an effort to drive down road trauma.

Operation Tribute runs until 11:59pm Sunday 28 April.
