Shameful pickpocket at Glenroy RSL

Broadmeadows police are investigating after an elderly man’s wallet was stolen in a pickpocket-style theft at a Glenroy RSL club this month.

The unknown man attended the licensed venue on Glenroy Road about 2.30pm on Wednesday, 3 August.

Just before 3pm the offender came up behind the 86-year-old victim who was using a walking frame as he crossed the floor of the gaming room.

The offender then sneakily snatched the wallet from the elderly man’s rear pocket.

The victim did not realise what had happened and it was not until CCTV footage was inspected that the offence was identified.

The offender left the venue and fled in a black Honda Jazz with unknown registration.

Investigators have released CCTV footage and photos of a man they believe could assist with their enquiries.

He was perceived to be about 20 to 30-years-old with black hair and a black beard.

The man was wearing a black Adidas hooded-jacket, black Everlast trackpants and black Nike slip-on shoes with white socks.

Anyone who recognises this man, or has information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link
