Sheep attacked, killed by dogs overnight at Mullion Creek, NSW

Fifteen sheep have been killed after an attack by two dogs in the state’s Central West overnight.

About 6am on Sunday (14 July 2019), a witness observed two large dogs chasing sheep at a property on Belgravia Road at Mullion Creek near Orange.

One of the dogs was found and destroyed by the property owners, and the second was unable to be located.

On further inspection, it is alleged 15 sheep were found dead and another 30 injured as a result of the attack.

Officers attached to Central West Police District and the Rural Crime Prevention Team commenced an investigation into the matter.

About 8am today (Tuesday 16 July 2019), the owner of the sheep informed police that the dogs’ owner had been identified.

As a result, both parties have come to a civil agreement in respect to the costs of the animals killed.

The second dog involved was also euthanised.

No further action is required by police in regards to the matter.
