Shellharbour Civic Centre and Blackbutt Youth Centre Reopen

Shellharbour City Council has reopened the Shellharbour Civic Centre and Blackbutt Youth Centre, following advice from the NSW Government.

The Civic Centre’s meeting rooms, offices and auditorium will be available to hire from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 12pm Saturday.

In line with the NSW Government’s public health order for gathering and movement, classes and events held at the Civic Centre must not exceed twenty participants. This does not include

persons conducting or assisting in the conduct of the class or event, or parents, guardians and carers of persons participating.

It is also required that each space follows the 4 square metre rule for each person, including staff members.

The Blackbutt Youth Centre will be open from 3.30pm to 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for programs and 9.30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday for support and referrals to other

local services.

Appointments and pre-registration for programs is required before visiting the Blackbutt Youth Centre to help maintain COVID-19 safety measurements.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that she was pleased for more fantastic community orientated spaces to be available once again.

“The social and emotional impacts of the coronavirus has affected each of us differently. For our local community groups and young people, the reopening of these spaces will allow for

reconnection,” Cr Saliba said.

“Shellharbour Youth Services’ drama and cooking program offer great opportunities for local young people to connect with other young people in a supportive environment and to learn some new life skills.

“To help ensure everyone feels happy and safe when visiting the Civic Centre and the Blackbutt Youth Centre we ask that you please stay at home if you feel unwell.

“Remember to also keep practising good hand hygiene and social distancing,” she said.

Shellharbour City Libraries are offering some additional services from Monday 22 June 2020. These include 1-hour computer bookings at Warilla, Albion Park and City Library, along with printing and copying.

Our libraries are now taking meeting room bookings for Warilla Library and City Library, with person limits for each room and 1-hour booking limits in place.

Warilla Library and Albion Park Library have changed hours from this week and will be open on Saturday mornings from Saturday 27 June; Albion Park will be back to usual Friday hours and open from 10am-1pm.
