Shooting Australia has today announced the appointment of Catherine Berry to the position of Para Technical Lead.
Catherine brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the planning and delivery of a wide range of shooting programs, activities and events at both national and international level and included the delivery of the shooting program at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Catherine is very passionate about the target shooting sports and in particular the para-shooting space. “After over 20 years of involvement in the target shooting sports, I am really excited to take on this role and the amazing opportunity it presents. I am looking forward to working closely with the Para-Shooting Athletes to provide them with technical support and help guide them to success” Catherine said of her appointment.
Shooting Australia’s High Performance Director Adam Sachs noted that Catherine was part of an open recruitment process that had the support of Paralympics Australia and the partners within the National Institute Networks. “Catherine was the successful candidate as part of the open recruitment process. Her initial focus in the role of Para Technical Lead will be responding to the learnings from our Tokyo Paralympic campaign and then planning the way through to the Paris Paralympics. Catherine will work through some immediate short term challenges as we see a return to international competition after a long period without travel outside of Australia. Shooting Australia is very fortunate to be able to appoint Catherine to this role and the experience she brings to the sport. We are extremely confident in her ability to work closely with athletes, personal coaches and support staff to build and establish the framework necessary to set the Para-Shooting Team up for success in Paris and beyond.”
Catherine, who is well known to the Para-Shooting Athletes and accompanied the team to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, will commence in this role on Monday 21 March.
