Shop local and support Canberra artists

Giving someone a uniquely Canberra gift this holiday season has never been easier, with so many amazing local artists and makers throughout the Canberra region offering unique gifts both online and in store.

ArtsACT has compiled a webpage that will help you explore Canberra’s local arts scene and buy a truly one-of-a-kind gift, crafted by locals.

With this resource, supporting our local artists is simple, there are a range of options allowing you to buy from an art gallery, a local shop or directly from the artists themselves.

From clothing with prints inspired by local landmarks designed by Zilpah Tart, to furniture built with recycled Australian timber crafted by the team at Thor’s Hammer, Canberra’s bustling artists and makers have something to suit everybody.

Other ideas might be to purchase a membership to a local arts organisation or, if you’re the kind of person who likes making their own gift, attend a workshop and learn how to make something yourself.

Supporting Canberra’s local arts scene is a great way to support our local arts community and also ensures your money goes back into the community, stimulating homegrown businesses, boosting our economy and supporting local jobs.

The artsACT website has suggestions for anyone, no matter their age or interests.

A number of local arts organisations such as Belconnen Arts Centre, Canberra Glassworks, Canberra Potters Society and Craft ACT have also signed up for the new digital discount voucher initiative, ChooseCBR.
