Bass Coast Shire Council have announced the recipients of round 3 of Shopfront Improvement Rebate with 25 projects approved from 7 townships Inverloch, Cowes, Wonthaggi, Ventnor, San Remo, Kilcunda and Cape Woolamai.
Project ethos: Vibrant and attractive streets, shops, and public spaces play a key role in creating prosperous town centres.
Project purpose: This program has been established to assist eligible organisations to renew their shopfront to improve the vibrancy of individual shops, stimulate economic growth and enhance the look and feel of local commercial districts.
Round 3 was highly competitive and we received 42 applications from 11 townships across the Shire.
Some examples of the works that will be completed as part of the program include:
· External signage and A-frames
· Replacement of outdoor furniture and umbrellas
· Painting of the shopfront/façade
· Minor repairs to structural façade elements, awnings, and verandas
· Installation of store lighting visible from the street
In round one and two, 67 projects were completed with the assistance of the rebates including murals, external signage, painting, minor repairs, accessibility improvements and lighting upgrades. In an additional boost for the local economy, the selection panel chooses projects that are using local contractors to complete the projects.
Local suppliers have been contracted more than $169,000 worth of works for the program.
