About 2.30am this morning, police were called to Alfred Road at Virginia after reports of shots being fired.
A resident in the street saw a 4WD, which appeared to be a dual cab utility, loitering nearby and shone his torch at it. The car drove towards the man and then stopped about 100m from him when the resident heard four shots being fired.
The man ran into his home and phoned police.
The car was last seen heading west on Alfred Road towards Penfield Road.
On arrival police located three spend shot gun cartridges.
Crime Scene Investigators attended and examined the scene.
No one was injured as a result of the shots being fired and no property damage has been located.
