Staff excellence within Tasmania’s Statewide Mental Health Services was celebrated on Thursday night at the inaugural Maggie Awards ceremony in Hobart.

The Maggie Awards recognise staff who provide exceptional care to consumers and outstanding contributions to the service.

Premier and Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Jeremy Rockliff, presented the Maggie Awards following the inaugural Mental Health Service Innovations Conference.

“Within Statewide Mental Health Services, there is a depth of excellence, compassion, and commitment to improving the services we provide to consumers, and that is something to celebrate,” Premier Rockliff said.

“This is reflected by the 49 nominations received, and I commend all finalists for their dedication to providing high quality care and treatment, and for their commitment more broadly to Tasmania’s mental health services.

“I would like to thank those involved in establishing the Maggie Awards, and congratulations to all winners on their outstanding achievements.”

The winners of the inaugural Maggie Awards are:

  • Emerging Leader – Dr Meredith Gray, Consultant Psychiatrist, Forensic Mental Health Services
  • Clinical Excellence – Dr Honor Pennington, Clinical Director, Community Mental Health Services
  • Team Member – Joanne Berry, Manager, Workforce and Operational Support
  • Maggie Qualities – Joanne Beswick, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Safety & Quality
