Waikato Police have arrested and charged two people following the discovery of multiple stolen packages.
On Tuesday 20 October around 4.20pm, Police were alerted to an alleged package theft in the Rototuna area.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott McKenzie says the quick reporting, and detailed information provided by the complainant was crucial in getting these arrests.
“Staff were able to identify the alleged offenders through this information, and initial enquiries found one offender was allegedly breaching their bail conditions.”
Following a search of the area, the two offenders were located in a vehicle on Selwyn Street, Hamilton, around 5.20pm.
“While staff were taking the two people into custody, packages were seen to be in the vehicle.”
A search of the vehicle located stolen parcels from the complainant and two other additional alleged thefts.
“These parcels have since been returned to their rightful owners,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Scott McKenzie.
Police continue to make enquiries into the matter.

There are also quick tips householders can do to ensure their packages are safe.
“Put a hold on your delivery if you’re away from home, and provide clear instructions for couriers to leave packages safely hidden and secured within your property.
“If you are unlikely to be home for some time or the package cannot be easily hidden or secured for when you come home, consider having the package delivered to an alternate address (i.e to work, a trusted friends, or a family member).
