Significant Cocaine Seizure – Bass Highway At Deloraine

Police are investigating following the seizure of approximately one kilogram of cocaine during a traffic intercept on the Bass Highway near Deloraine yesterday morning.

Police observed a vehicle driving erratically and intercepted it at approximately 8.45am. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a kilogram of cocaine concealed inside a bag.

The occupant, a 34-year-old man from the Launceston area was taken into custody and later charged with serious drug and firearm offences.

Investigators subsequently executed a search warrant at a residential property where they allegedly located evidence relating to drug offences, a quantity of ammunition, and a stolen firearm.

Police will allege the firearm has been linked to an aggravated burglary reported in Beaconsfield earlier this year.
