Significant firearms arrest – Glengowrie, South Australia

Police, acting in information from the public, searched two properties yesterday in relation to illegal firearms.

At about 6pm on 24 January, police searched a property at Glenelg where they located two semi-automatic 9mm hand guns, a .357 revolver, two sawn off .22 rifles, a sawn off .308 rifle, a sawn off single barrel shotgun, two sawn off double barrel shotguns, three bolt action .22 rifles, a lever action .22 rifle, two lever action .308 rifles and a bolt action .308 rifle.

As a result of that search, police attended a property in Glengowrie around 11.30pm and carried out a second search locating an amount of ammunition, a silencer, an amount of methamphetamine, over $7500 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

A 34-year-old woman from Glengowrie was arrested and charged with 16 counts of possess firearm without a licence, possess ammunition, trafficking controlled drug and possess silencer. She has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
