A new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Armidale Regional Council and New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM) is set to further develop the arts industry and exhibit local talent in front of greater audiences.

The two-year arrangement demonstrates Council’s support of NECOM initiatives, including the popular New England Sings concerts.

Council has agreed to waiver fees for the use of the Town Hall as a concert venue and NECOM will run a series of free community concerts and create more opportunities for locals and visitors to enjoy the region’s talented young musicians.

Armidale Regional Council CEO Susan Law says supporting Music Therapy and Bursary Support Programs is vital for the Armidale region.

“We all appreciate the funding challenges facing the arts industry and support of this kind is important to organisations such as NECOM,” she said.

“The Music Therapy Program is a demonstration of NECOMs broad thinking and I commend them for their work in fostering an appreciation of music in our younger generations.”

New England Conservatorium of Music CEO Susanne James is thrilled to have the continued support of Armidale Regional Council.

“The programs and initiatives included in the new MOU will enable NECOM to interact with our community at multiple levels and that is what drives us.
