Six identified after riotous behaviour in Glenroy

Moreland Crime Investigation Unit detectives have fined five men and charged a sixth after a group of people allegedly rushed a police car in Glenroy on Sunday.

Highway patrol officers were called to Logan Street about 1.30pm after reports that a number of vehicles were driving dangerously.

When police arrived they allegedly observed a number of motorcycles driving dangerously and putting nearby spectators in danger.

Police will allege that when they attempted to intercept the riders, a number of spectators converged on police and attacked their vehicle.

Investigations led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man from Dallas who was charged with hinder/obstruct police and bailed to appeal at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 12 October.

Five men were each issued with a fine for breaching chief health officer restrictions and riotous behaviour:

– 22-year-old from Tullamarine

– 20-year-old from Campbellfield

– 22-year-old from Meadows Heights

– 23-year-old from Meadows Heights

– 19-year-old from Roxburgh Park

Detectives have released images of two men they believe can assist with their investigation.

The first man is perceived to be aged in his 30s and with short grey hair. He was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with tan knee-length pants.

The second man is perceived to be aged in his 20s and with tanned skin. He was wearing a black cap, black long-sleeved hooded jumper with a red stripe across the chest reading ‘Paris’.

Investigations remain ongoing and more arrests are expected.
