Boondall Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) officers have charged six people on more than 130 offences following investigations into drug trafficking in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
Throughout late June and early July, the unit carried out targeted proactive tactical operations to identify drug suppliers.
Investigations led to several search warrants being executed across Bald Hills, Zillmere, Carina and Stafford Heights, resulting in significant seizures of illicit drugs and cash.
Police will not allege that the trafficking offences were connected.
On 9 July, a search warrant was conducted at a Cavalier Street property in Bald Hills.
It will be alleged a 27-year-old Bald Hills man was found to be in possession of airsoft rifles, a small quantity of cocaine, $22,000 of alleged drug cash, 1.68kg of cannabis and a grow tent with two mature cannabis plants.
The man was charged with 12 offences including four counts of possess anything for use in the commission of crime defined in part 2, two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 and possess utensils or pipes etc for use, and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 but less than Schedule 4, possessing instructions for producing dangerous drugs, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act, and unlawful use of weapons category A.
He first appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 10 July where he was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear on 10 August.
On 15 July, police intercepted a man riding an e-scooter along Merrett Avenue in Zillmere, it will be alleged the man was located in possession of drugs.
Subsequent investigations led to a search warrant at a Crowley Street address where police seized 1.28kg of psilocybin magic mushrooms, MDMA crystals, MCMA ecstasy, cocaine, diazepam, THC Oil, 1.56kg of cannabis and $35,100 of alleged drug cash.
The 49-year-old Zillmere man was subsequently charged with 13 offences including four counts of possessing dangerous drugs schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding schedule 3 but less than schedule 4, two counts of possess tainted property, and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything for use in the commission of crime defined in part 2, possessing dangerous drugs schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding schedule 3, possess or buy S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, possessing counterfeit money and possess property suspected or having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence.
He is expected to first appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 6 August.
On 7 July, officers conducted a search warrant at a Waratah Avenue address in Carina and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, LSD tabs, drug utensils pipes, bongs, ritanol, vyvanse and $510 of alleged drug cash.
A 32-year-old Carina man was subsequently charged 73 offences including 60 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of possess utensils or pipes etc for use, two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs, possess or buy S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, possessing anything for use in the commission of crime defined in part 2 and possess anything used in commission of crime defined in part 2, and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act.
He first appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 8 July where he was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear on 17 August.
On 7 July, officers seized methylamphetamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia during a search warrant at a Farrant Street address in Stafford Heights.
A 39-year-old Stafford Heights man was charged with 26 offences including 24 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.
He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 19 August.
On 7 July, officers charged a 39-year-old Zillmere woman with one count each of supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime defined in Part 2 and permitting use of place.
She is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 19 August.
On 30 June, officers conducted a search warrant at a Kyeema Cresent address in Bald Hills and seized dangerous drugs, an antipersonnel device (pepper spray), scales, and utensils.
A 25-year-old Bald Hills man was charged with seven offences including two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and possess utensils or pipes etc for use, and one count each of possessing relevant substances or things, unlawful possession of weapons category R weapon and possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence.
The matter is first expected to be heard before Sandgate Magistrates Court on 27 July.
Boondall TCS Officer in Charge Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Challenger says the charges represent a substantial disruption to local drug supply networks and associated criminal activity.
“Our message to any supplier or trafficker who wants to distribute drugs on Brisbane’s streets is that you can expect police to track you down and come knocking at your door.”
“The use of drugs can have catastrophic impacts on individuals and communities. We have no tolerance for anyone who seeks to distribute these dangerous substances.”
