Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged six teenagers after a man was found seriously injured in Box Hill last month.
Police were called to the scene, near the intersection of Bruce and Irving streets, following reports a man could be heard calling for help on Saturday 22 August around 2.15am.
When police arrived they found a man who had injuries consistent with a stab wound, in the vicinity of the basketball courts near the gardens.
The 53-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains.
Detectives launched an extensive investigation into the incident, and this morning executed six search warrants across the Whitehorse and Manningham areas.
Five teenage boys and one teenage girl were arrested and interviewed by detectives.
All six have been charged with:
• Intentionally cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence
• Recklessly cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence
• Intentionally cause serious injury
• Recklessly cause serious injury
• Affray
• Assault with a weapon
• Assault in company
One 15-year-old boy will face a children’s court today.
The other five will remain in custody to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
