Six youths arrested for alleged aggravated carjacking in Cheltenham

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested six youths following an alleged attempted aggravated carjacking in Cheltenham on Saturday 12 August.

Investigators allege five males, and one female approached a stationary vehicle in a fast-food carpark on the Nepean Highway about 7.45pm.

It’s alleged the group opened the vehicle’s door, grabbed the driver and pulled him out of the car.

A struggle between the victim and the offenders occurred when two youths produced knives and one youth produced a handgun.

The victim sustained a slash to his arm and a puncture wound to his back.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offenders fled on foot empty handed.

Six teenagers were located and arrested nearby a short time later and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
