South Australia Police have arrested 60 domestic violence offenders during the eighth Operation Storm Days of Action, conducted statewide across a two‑week period.
Throughout the operation, 360 police officers targeted 367 offenders and attended 414 addresses, focusing on outstanding investigations, intervention orders, bail compliance and pathways aimed at reducing reoffending.
Across this latest operation officers completed:
- 26 bail compliance checks
- Charges for 122 offences
- Clearance of 91 reported incidents
- Execution of 17 warrants for domestic abuse‑related offences
- 11 Firearm Prohibition Order compliance searches
- 3 stalking cautions
- 65 referrals to support services and behaviour‑change programs
Deputy Commissioner Linda Williams said the latest results demonstrate SAPOL’s continued focus on disrupting domestic abuse and improving community safety.
“Our proactive approach to domestic abuse, through ongoing compliance checks and targeted enforcement activity, continues to disrupt offending and improve community safety,” Deputy Commissioner Williams said.
“Importantly, this recent operation was not only about enforcement. It also focused on creating pathways for change, with referrals made to support services and behaviour‑change programs for offenders.
“These referrals represent an opportunity for perpetrators to take responsibility for their actions and engage with services that support lasting change.”
Since the commencement of Operation Storm in July 2024, police have investigated 2837 domestic violence offenders over a nominated 16‑week period. Officers have:
- Attended 3362 addresses
- Made 579 arrests
- Reported 148 offenders for 1115 offences
- Completed 410 bail compliance checks
- Undertaken 45 Firearm Prohibition Order compliance searches
- Issued 149 intervention orders
- Delivered 24 stalking cautions
- Cleared 161 arrest warrants
- Made 987 referrals to rehabilitation and support services
“Operation Storm reflects our commitment to preventing domestic abuse through both accountability and intervention.
“While we will continue to take firm action against offenders who pose a risk to victim‑survivors, we are equally committed to identifying opportunities for individuals to engage in rehabilitation and reduce the likelihood of reoffending,” Deputy Commissioner Williams said.
Operation Storm remains a key SAPOL initiative focused on holding domestic and family violence offenders accountable while supporting the safety and wellbeing of victim‑survivors.
The operation aligns with the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032.
