Smoke Free Zones Extended: Bayside

Bayside Council’s Smoke Free Zones – Breathe Easy campaign which has been successfully held over the last 2 years will be extended for a further 12 month period.

The smoke free zones have also been extended to Kyeemagh, through to Cook Park to Monterey and Ramsgate during this trial period.

Council will also provide three designated charcoal BBQ areas in Kyeemagh, Monterey, and Ramsgate.

The new smoke free zones are signposted, and smokers will be encouraged to dispose of cigarette butts in the bins provided between Brighton-le-Sand to Ramsgate, associated amenities, and beach enclosures.

Smoke Free legislation will also be enforced and those caught smoking in outdoor dining areas risk a fine of up to $300. This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and shisha.

Council has received strong community support for its Smoke Free Zone Trial and is looking to develop a Smoke Free policy which will lead to permanent smoke free areas along the foreshore.
