Snap, Send, Solve helping resolve issues more efficiently around shire

Issues within the shire are being lodged and resolved more efficiently than ever through the use of the Snap, Send, Solve app, which has received a great take up of users since council registered with the service.

The mobile app allows users to ‘snap’ photos of incidents they come across while out and about in the shire, then send them within seconds through to council who then action and respond to the request.

The app creates an efficient way for community members to lodge their issues, without the need for a phone call or a visit to council offices.

Once the issue is lodged, it gets elevated through to council’s customer request system, and if community members would like a direct response to their reported issue, they can also ask to be called or emailed by leaving a comment when sending their request.

Issues that can be reported involve categories such as dumped rubbish, graffiti, road and footpath issues, street lights and more.

Specifically, some of the issues that have been resolved by council through Snap, Send, Solve requests include:

● A gravel road reported as being in poor condition near St Arnaud, and three days later another request was received to thank the roads crew for the job done on improving the road.

● A community member jogging through an area of bushland came across some dumped rubbish, and sent a request to have it picked up through the app. The next time they went jogging through the area they were pleased to find that the rubbish had been removed.

● Another community member reported a fallen tree branch across a local walking/bike path. After using the app, the branch was quickly removed allowing safe access along the path once again.

With the app able to geolocate users from where they report the issue using the app, users can be assured that no matter where they are, their reported issue will get sent to the appropriate council, or the appropriate authority, if the issue reported is not council related.

Mayor of Northern Grampians Shire Council, Cr Kevin Erwin said, “We encourage people to download the app and use it, it’s a great way of reporting any issues they come across within the shire.”

“The app will hopefully streamline the ability for our community members to report these issues, and for us to also rectify them in an efficient manner.”
