We’re conducting soil testing across the North Point foreshore to understand soil and environmental conditions in the area. These works follow the discovery of unexpected landfill material during excavation works for the North Road carpark upgrade.
To ensure a comprehensive understanding of the environmental conditions across the North Point foreshore, we have engaged specialist contractors to undertake soil testing at various depths and locations between Cole Street and Miller Street. These works will be carried out in accordance with relevant environmental standards and guidelines, including Environment Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines, and with the consent of the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA).
Testing is planned throughout the winter months, weather permitting. The North Point Café, playground, boat ramp, and carpark will remain open throughout the testing program.
