Some drivers never learn – same drink driver caught twice in 24 hours

Riverland Police have detected the same man allegedly drink driving on two separate occasions within 24 hours.

Just after 10pm on Saturday 20 July, patrols stopped a Mitsubishi sedan on Ral Ral Avenue and breath tested the driver.

The 37-year-old male from Renmark North returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.267 – more than five times the legal limit. He was issued an immediate 12 month loss of licence and his sedan was impounded for 28 days.

Just before 8.30pm the following day, the same patrol spotted the man driving a Toyota van on Barwon Street.

He was again stopped and breath tested, this time returning an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.197 – almost four times the legal limit. His van was impounded and he will be summonses to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
