Sorting Is Simpler With New Recycling Baskets

The City of Casey is rolling out new recycling baskets across Casey, making it easier than ever for people to recycle empty drink containers, keeping them out of landfill and making some money along the way.

Working in partnership with the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic), there are currently 100 open-topped baskets attached to public bins located around Casey where people can either leave eligible containers or collect them to take to a refund point.

Baskets are also being rolled out by other Councils across Victoria in an effort to further reduce litter and to capture more containers for recycling.

City of Casey Mayor, Cr Stefan Koomen said: “By using the baskets, we can get even more containers recycled and keep them out of landfill, plus you’re helping to keep our City cleaner and helping other members of the community who can claim the refund. It’s win-win!

“The baskets are only for empty eligible containers though, so make sure you check for the 10c mark before dropping it in.”

Casey community groups collecting eligible drink containers can also access CDS Vic bags to make fundraising for their group easier. These sturdy bags are only for community groups and with a limited supply, only available while stocks last. Groups can apply by completing the online form at https://forms.office.com/r/QZYQjfZtge
