South Australia Covid update as at 1 April 2022

COVID Cases in SA

There have been 5,134 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 33,380 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a child under the age of five and a woman in her 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19 have passed away.

There are 169 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 112 people are fully vaccinated, 46 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 11 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found around 60% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 16,373 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 6.7% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 3,546 PCR tests were positive, while 1,588 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 70.7% of eligible South Australians and 63% of South Australians aged 16+.
