South Australia Covid update as at 11 January 2022

There have been 2,921 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 30,388 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 50s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 211 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 22 people in ICU and four requiring a ventilator. Of the people hospitalised, 124 are fully vaccinated, 19 are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 68 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, 44 cases from yesterday have been removed to the total number of cases.

    Variants

    Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. Eighty-one per cent of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

    Yesterday, 1,407,754 check-ins were made using the COVID Safe Check in app.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 18,433 people received a PCR test in South Australia, a 15.6% decrease on the previous 24 hours.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 93.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine, 89.1% have received their second dose and there were 14,014 booster shots given yesterday bringing the total booster shots to 262,480.
