South Australia Covid update as at 11 May 2022

COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,299 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 22,101 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm one man in his 60s, two men in their 70s, one woman in her 80s, one man and two women in their 90s, and one woman over 100, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 232 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 115 people had received three or more vaccine doses, 111 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and six have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found around 94.9% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 10,925 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 24% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,300 PCR tests were positive, while 1,999 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.5% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.5% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.9% of eligible South Australians and 66.1% of South Australians aged 16+.
