COVID Cases in SA

There have been 1,372 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 14,016 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 213 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 17 people in ICU, and four people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 122 people are fully vaccinated, 39 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 52 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases have been readjusted.

    Variants

    Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 9,219 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 2% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the tests results returned yesterday, 1,119 PCR tests were positive, while 253 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 94.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 91.7% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 64.4% of eligible South Australians and 48.4% of South Australians aged 16+.
