COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,696 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 23,183 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two women in their 80s, one woman in her 90s, two men in their 80s and two men in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 210 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU, two of those requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 100 people had received three or more vaccine doses, 103 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and seven have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 7 May has found 100% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 12,068 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 10.5% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,593 PCR tests were positive, while 2,103 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.5% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.5% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.9% of eligible South Australians and 66.2% of South Australians aged 16+.
