COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,986 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 35,052 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s and a man in his 40s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 220 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU, one of those ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 152 people are fully vaccinated, 64 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and four have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found around 60% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 15,162 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 18.5% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 3,251 PCR tests were positive, while 1,735 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.3% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.2% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.3% of eligible South Australians and 64.4% of South Australians aged 16+.
