COVID Cases in SA

There have been 3,143 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 24,803 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two women in their 70s and a woman in her 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 257 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 15 people in ICU, with two people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 195 people are fully vaccinated, 56 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and six have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found around 93.8% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 7,328 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 6.7% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,655 PCR tests were positive, while 1,488 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.5% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.4% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.8% of eligible South Australians and 65.7% of South Australians aged 16+.
