COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,401 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 26,574 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s, a man and a woman in their 70s, a man and four women in their 80s, and two men and two women in their 90s who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. Of the 13 new deaths notified since the last report, six have been included as part of a reconciliation of death notifications over the past two weeks.

There are 288 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 26 people in ICU and four people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 170 people are fully vaccinated, 44 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 74 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to ongoing data reviews and updates, 822 cases across the period since 12 November 2021 were added to the total number of cases reported in South Australian on 24 January 2022

    Variants

    Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 95% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 13,487 people received a PCR test in South Australia, a less than 38.5% increaseon the previous 24 hours.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 94% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 90.4% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 54.3% of eligible South Australians and 36.1% of South Australians aged 18+.
