South Australia Covid update as at 28 April 2022

COVID Cases in SA

There have been 3,733 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 25,246 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two women in their 90s, one man in his 70s, and one man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 240 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU, and one person requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 169 people are fully vaccinated, 76 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and seven have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found around 93.8% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 10,991 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 1.7% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,559 PCR tests were positive, while 1,174 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.4% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.4% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.7% of eligible South Australians and 65.4% of South Australians aged 16+.
