COVID Cases in SA

There have been 5,496 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 31,449 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 180 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU, and one person requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 123 people are fully vaccinated, 32 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 25 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found around 60% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 16,434 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 36% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 3,626 PCR tests were positive, while 1,870 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 92.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 70.4% of eligible South Australians and 62.6% of South Australians aged 16+.
