COVID Cases in SA
There have been 3,591 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 22,821 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, since the last report, SA Health has been notified that 12 people who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified are from data reconciliation and occurred between 19 April 2022 and 3 May 2022.
The deaths include two men in their 70s, three men in their 80s, three women in their 80s, two men in their 90s and two women in their 90s.
There are 221 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU, with one person requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 167 people are fully vaccinated, 49 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and five have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

The latest genome sampling has found around 94.9% of samples taken were BA.2.

Yesterday, 9,121 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 23% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,953 PCR tests were positive, while 1,638 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Currently 95.5% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.5% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 71.8% of eligible South Australians and 65.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
