COVID Cases in SA

There have been 1,147 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 14,635 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s, a man in his 70s, two men in their 80s and a man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 224 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 16 people in ICU, and five people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 125 people are fully vaccinated, 35 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 64 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases have been readjusted.

    Variants

    Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 7,364 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 15.3% decrease on the previous 24 hours.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 94.6% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 91.4% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 61.4% of eligible South Australians and 44.5% of South Australians aged 16+.
