The Marshall government has delivered a budget to help position South Australia for the future and create the new jobs we will need to fuel our recovery, Business Council chief executive Jennifer Westacott said.
“This is a budget to give the people of South Australia confidence that the state can come back stronger from the pandemic, with more jobs, more opportunities and a brighter future.
“The government has thrown its balance sheet at creating new jobs and getting the state back on track. Critically, the budget recognises that it is businesses who will need to create the majority of new jobs the state needs.
“Payroll tax is a tax on jobs, so we welcome payroll tax relief that will give businesses a chance to start creating new jobs and take the pressure of those doing it tough.
“A payroll tax exemption for those employing new apprentices and new trainees will also help give workers the skills they’ll need in the future.
“Record investments in infrastructure will also create jobs today and set the state up as a more attractive place to do business and employ into the future.
“Throughout the COVID crisis, South Australia has made the decisions needed to save jobs, keep people safe and set the state up for a strong economic recovery.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the state to put in place the policies needed to attract new investment, create new jobs and build a brighter future.”
