Southedge north of Mareeba – grass fire

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is monitoring a grass fire burning near the Mulligan Highway at Southedge. Crews will return tomorrow to monitor and the patrol the fire. The highway has reopened in both directions. There is no threat to property at this time. There is a separate warning in place for a different fire burning in Biboohra. Smoke may affect the surrounding area, including roads. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and to conditions. If affected by smoke, residents are advised to close windows and doors and keep respiratory medication close by. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
