Southern Region operation sees 17 people arrested for serious offences

17 people have been charged with serious offences during a joint operation in the state’s south.

The operation involved officers from the Southern Region’s Operations Support Group, Domestic Violence High-Risk Offender Teams, Illawarra Region Enforcement Squad, Wagga Wagga Region Enforcement Squad, and Riverina Police District, which commenced on Monday 18 December 2023.

17 people have been arrested, and in addition to break and enter related offences, various other serious offences were detected, including prohibited weapon possession, traffic offences, outstanding warrants, breaches of bail, and drug possession, with more than 20 charges laid.

During the operation, police have conducted 60 person searches, 16 vehicle searches, 42 bail compliance checks, 50 roadside breath tests and drug tests, and recovered seven stolen vehicles.
