Southern suburbs man charged over unlawful relationship, South Australia

A southern suburbs man will face court today charged with maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child and aggravated child exploitation offences.

As a result of information received via the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation, detectives from the SA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (SA JACET), a partnership between SAPOL’s Public Protection Branch and the Australian Federal Police, arrested a 29-year-old man from the southern suburbs yesterday, Wednesday 3 November.

He was charged with maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child, producing aggravated child exploitation material, disseminating aggravated child exploitation material and possessing aggravated child exploitation material.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today, 4 November.

Police wish to remind the public the trading, downloading, accessing child exploitation material is not a victimless crime. Every image depicts a child being abused and these actions perpetuate the abuse.

Anyone with information about people involved in child exploitation are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.
