Speeding motorcyclist clocked at 138 km/h

A motorcyclist was clocked at more than double the speed limit at Wingfield this afternoon.

About 5.40pm on Sunday 11 August, a Northern Road Policing Section officer was conducting speed detection duties, during Operation High Impact Fatal Five, on Grand Junction Road, Wingfield.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle took off at speed from the traffic lights and was detected travelling at 138 km/h in the 60 km/h zone.

The rider, a 25-year-old Riverton man, was issued with a $1096 fine and a six month instant loss of licence.

Operation High Impact Fatal Five is targeting people committing offences against the Fatal Five which include drink or drug driving, speeding, distraction offences, seatbelts and dangerous road users, with the aim of stopping people being killed on our road through poor choices.
