Speeding Rider Tracked To Home Address At Burton

A motorcyclist was arrested overnight after being clocked at extreme speeds in the northern suburbs.

Just after 10pm on Saturday 30 March, a patrol attempted to stop a black motorcycle that was not displaying a registration plate on Marena Drive, Brahma Lodge.

The motorcycle failed to stop.

PolAir were alerted and monitored the bike as it headed through backstreets of Parafield Gardens. It will be alleged the bike reached speeds of up to 180 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Burton Road, Burton.

The motorcycle was tracked to the garage of a Burton address and patrols quickly swooped in as the rider attempted to run from police.

The rider, a 42-year-old Burton man, was arrested just before 10.30pm and charged with fail to stop, aggravated extreme speed, speed and manner dangerous to the public, drive disqualified, unregistered, uninsured and with unassigned number plate and resist arrest.

He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 6 May.

The motorcycle was impounded.
