A speedster in North Essendon has been clocked by police travelling in excess of 80km/h over the speed limit overnight.
Officers working on the Moonee Ponds van spotted the Mazda XR8 travelling along Bulla Road about 12.05am.
The car was detected travelling at 147km/h in a 60km/h zone.
Police intercepted the P plate driver, a 19-year-old man, and impounded his car at a cost of $878.
The Meadows Heights man will be charged on summons with speed dangerous, reckless driving, careless driving and driving at excessive speed.
