Splashing safely into summer

As we start swimming season, Council’s Compliance team is commencing random pool safety audits across the region to check that residential and commercial swimming pools meet safety standards.

While these audits are random, residents will be sent a letter if Council intends to inspect their pool as part of this audit.

Tamworth Regional Council Manager Compliance, Ross Briggs, said “pool owners need to be aware of their responsibilities to make sure their pool meets safety standards”.

All swimming pools in New South Wales are required to be registered on the NSW Swimming Pool Register. This is a simple process that can be done online for free or at Council for a small fee. To register your pool, you will need to provide:

  • Name, address, and contact number.
  • Information on the type of pool and approximate age (installation date)
  • Supply a completed self-assessment checklist.
