Sports vouchers supporting Territory families and future stars

NT Government

Future sports stars and families are the winners as the Territory Labor Government is making it easier for children and young people to participate in sport and other recreational activities, through the Sport Voucher Scheme.

The $6 million dollar annual scheme ensures that playing sports and participating in recreational and cultural activities are sustainable and affordable for families, easing the cost of living.

The $100 sport vouchers are available twice a year to every child enrolled in an urban school from transition to Year 12, including home-schooled children.

The vouchers can be used at more than 300 registered sport, active recreation and cultural activity providers, including Learn to Swim programs, music and language.

Children under five years who are not enrolled in transition or school, are eligible for a $100 Learn to Swim voucher twice a year.

Vouchers can be redeemed for registration and membership costs at any registered activity provider.

Applications for Semester Two 2022 are now open and available for registration until 22 May 2023.

Applications can be made online at [https://www.grantsnt.nt.gov.au] or by contacting the provider of the activity the child wants to enrol with.

Quote from Minister for Sport, Kate Worden:

“Territory Labor is making sure that our young children remain active in sports and cultural activities, which is so important for their physical and mental development.

“Kids shouldn’t miss out on their chance to participate, or to become future sports champions, when we can help families to better manage the cost of these activities.

“Importantly, we continue to grow the number of providers participating in the scheme, offering more opportunities for children and families to find the activities they want and need to help them grow as individuals and participate fully in our society.”
