SSSI New Partnership Announcement

The Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) is delighted to announce two new four-year partnerships that were signed at the South East Asia Survey Congress (SEASC) in Darwin last week. Memoranda of Understanding were signed with both the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics (ASEAN FLAG), and with the Pacific Geospatial and Surveying Council (PGSC).

Engr Randolf S. Vicente, President of ASEAN FLAG, said of the partnership, “This MoU has been conceived by ASEAN FLAG and SSSI primarily to come together and collaborate under the ambit of ASEAN + 6. The said document is timely and significant, considering the challenges and changing demands of the times that surveyors and the profession as a whole are facing. As an imperative strategic initiative, both organisations look forward to a stronger linkage, a vibrant relationship, and sustained relevance in our respective constituents and the society that both represent.”
SSSI President, Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse also looks forward to the positive outcomes promised by the partnership, “This MoU will foster stronger collaboration of Surveying and Spatial Professionals in the region.”

Ms Meizyanne Hicks, Vice President of PGSC said, “The outcome of this MOU will provide much needed support and development opportunities for surveyors and geospatial professionals in the Pacific region dealing with environmental, economic and social challenges in their countries.”
Dr Mohamed-Ghouse added, “It is a great pleasure and honour to sign the MoU between SSSI and PGSC today at SEASC 2019 in Darwin. I strongly believe the agreement will strengthen our collaboration and knowledge sharing between Australia and the Pacific Island Nations to develop a progressive community and better practice for geospatial professional development.”
