St Kilda theft from car and deception

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a theft from a car and subsequent deception in St Kilda earlier this month.

It is believed an unknown person gained access to a secure car park on Octavia Street sometime between 6pm on 12 July and 4.50am on 13 July.

The person stole a number of items including a wallet from a parked car.

That morning, an unknown man used the stolen bank card to purchase several items from a convenience store on Alma Road at 5am.

Police have released images of a man who they believe can assist with their investigation.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged 30-40-years-old, and has distinctive tattoos on his hands and neck.

He was wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants, white and orange sneakers, and was carrying a blue suitcase.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppervic.com.au
