Stage 1 of Thomastown Streetscape upgrade now complete

A revitalised streetscape at the High Street, Thomastown shopping precinct is one step closer with the public forecourt at the entrance to Thomastown Primary School now complete.

The new forecourt now includes bench seats, lights and fresh landscaping; perfect for Thomastown shoppers to have a rest and a friendly chat once Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions have eased.

The City of Whittlesea has also replaced the paving and drainage along High Street, between Spring Street and Highlands Road, and installed street furniture, accented by new trees and plants.

The transformation of this space is the first part of a much-needed upgrade to this popular shopping strip. Safer pedestrian crossings will be added to side streets and areas for outdoor dining will be created to provide more opportunities for the community to connect.

A community courtyard is currently under construction at Central Avenue and is expected to be complete by November. The new courtyard will be an inviting open space with planter boxes, seats, lights, public toilet and new paving.
