Women’s sport advocate Amna Karra-Hassan

Broadcaster and journalist James Bracey is well-known for his role as a sideline commentator in Channel 9’s NRL coverage.

Next month he’ll be one of the star attractions as the Master of Ceremonies at the annual City of Logan Sports Awards.

He will be joined on stage by special guests Katie Brennan and Amna Karra-Hassan.

Loganholme-raised Brennan is an AFLW high flyer who recently joined Richmond Football Club after a successful stint with the Western Bulldogs.

Karra-Hassan started the first women’s AFL club in Western Sydney and is a major champion of diversity in sport.

Both women will share stories of their remarkable careers as they strive to inspire the next generation of sporting superstars.

This year’s City of Logan Sports Awards has attracted a record field of 158 nominations across 12 categories.

Logan City Council Community Services Director Katie Barton-Harvey said Logan has a strong reputation as both a sporting powerhouse and a nursery for young talent.

“It’s particularly encouraging to see 32 entries in the two young sportspersons awards,” Ms Barton-Harvey said.

“This shows the city has a bright sporting future.

“I’m sure in telling their stories, Katie and Amna will inspire those athletes to realise their sporting dreams.”

This year’s gala ceremony is at the Logan Metro Sports and Events Centre at Crestmead on Saturday, November 2, from 6.30pm.
