Statement by OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría following President Macron’s announcement on French government’s response to Covid-19

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría fully supports the courageous and responsible measures announced by French President Emmanuel Macron to slow the spread of Covid-19 in France, the Organisation’s host country.

“Covid-19 is testing our societies’ capacity to respond to a serious health crisis and to the economic and social consequences the epidemic will inevitably generate,” Mr Gurría said. “It is through ambitious measures, appealing to each person’s sense of civic responsibility, and a collective commitment by governments that we will overcome this virus with the least possible damage to our societies.”
